Robert Freedman Obituary

Robert S Freedman

February 2, 1928 - August 31, 2024

Robert S Freedman, 96, of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully at home on 8/31/24. Bob was born in Chicago, IL, on 2/2/1928 to Maurice and Lillian (Shaeffer) Freedman. After graduating from Central Highschool, Bob joined the Navy in 1946 and honorably completed his service in 1948, having spent time on the Aircraft Carrier USS Coral Sea and at Pearl Harbor, HI.

Bob made his way to Madison, WI, in 1965 where he met his wife, Christine, and the two were married on August 15, 1967.

Bob worked in the insurance industry for many years before retiring and pursuing an interest in antiques, with a special passion for cuff-links and straight razors. Bob and Christine happily traveled the mid-West exploring and looking for items to buy and sellat estate sales, garage sales, and antique malls and markets. Bob also discovered fitness at 65, and was an avid power walker, spending hours on the treadmill at the YMCA, even into his early 90's. He was a voracious reader and history aficionado.

Bob is survived by his wife, Christine, daughter Andrea, son Jason (Angela), and grandson Leo. Bob loved being a grandfather and was known as Poppa to his grandson. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Roz (Fifer), and nephew Lane Fifer.
