Robert Walter Sonntag, age 82, of Fitchburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a man of quiet strength and deep devotion to his family, often expressing his love through shared experiences rather than words.

Born on November 10, 1942, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Adolph and Angeline (Turtenwald, Geisenger) Sonntag, Bob married his beloved wife, Roberta Jean (Bacon) Sonntag. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared adventures. Bob was a proud and devoted father to Steve, Jeff, and Tom.

A graduate in Civil Engineering, Bob dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Above all, Bob prioritized time with his family. His love for nature was passed down through countless camping trips, where he taught his children how to fish, hunt, and appreciate the beauty of the great outdoors. These simple yet profound experiences became the foundation of his family life, and the memories created on those trips will be cherished forever.

In addition to his immediate family, Bob is survived by his brother, Ron; his children, Steve and Tom; his grandchildren, Courtney and Nick; as well as many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
