Lundberg, Rose Marie
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Rose Marie "Rosebud" (Cerny) Lundberg, age 95, passed away peacefully at home in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Nov. 16, 2021.
Rose was born on May 3, 1926, in Beloit, Wis., to Czech immigrants Zdenka (Milachek) and Lambert Cerny. She lived in Beloit through high school and attended Beloit College. Rose married William "Bill" Lundberg, her high school sweetheart, in 1948. Bill went to work for Metropolitan Life, which took the Lundberg family over the years to Whitewater, Milwaukee, New York City, Oshkosh and Madison. She is remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, who was an extraordinary cook and baker, hosting business associates, friends and family for all occasions. The Lundberg home was always the hub of neighborhood activity.
Rose was an accomplished singer, over the years singing in church choirs, at weddings and Metropolitan Life conferences. Rose and Bill were members of Grace Episcopal Church and later Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She sang in the choir, participated in Prime Timers, served meals to the Madison homeless and communion to homebound Good Shepherd members.
As an Attic Angel member of 39 years, and an active volunteer for 27, Rosebud loved visiting with residents, sharing her gifts of conversation, service and love. As an Angel Choir member she enjoyed participating in Hymn Sing with the residents. Rose was known as an excellent cook, but was especially known for her delicious cookies, which she delighted in sharing with residents and at events. Rose loved being a member of PEO for the past 16 years.
Rosebud is remembered by many for her appreciation of beauty: her beautiful, coordinated attire, lovely fresh and dried floral arrangements, and the handsome, warm home she made for her family wherever they lived.
Rose is survived by her children, Leah, Boston, Mass., Julianne (William Tobey), Salt Lake City, Utah, David (Claire), Rio Rancho, N.M., Sara (Kevin McCaw), Scottsdale, Ariz., and Lisa, Madison, Wis.; along with nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren!
A memorial service will be held in spring/summer 2022 in Madison at Good Shepherd Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rosebud's life. In lieu of flowers, family requests gifts be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison. The family would like to thank the staff of Arizona Royal Care, Scottsdale, and Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, for their dedicated and loving support this last year of Rose's life.

Dear Rose's family. On this day of Thanksgiving, I am so thankful I was a friend of Rose's. I have so many fond memories of going and doing things with our husbands. What a wonderful, kind and generous person. Memories are a wonderful thing to have and to hold.

We are so sorry to learn of the loss of Rose. She was a close friend of my Mom, Lucy Hall, who sends her condolences. Our family has many fond memories of Rose and Bill. Mom especially remembers her beautiful voice. They were fellow PEO sisters and Angels, attending Grace Church together as well. We are thinking of you all during this sad, difficult time. "Rosebud" has always been a special person in my and my husband's life. She and Bill and Jesse and I spent many wonderful times together both with Metropolitan trips and our own special trips. Sorry to have lost touch with her when she moved to Arizona but she has been in my thoughts so often. My deepest sympathy to her family, whom I remember fondly.

What a beautiful woman I felt honored to call my friend. We were in the same church circle and the same organizations , such as Attic Angels, How I envied her elegant taste in clothes and decorating. She will be missed by all

We absolutely loved Rose from the moment we met her at Good Shepherd: she always greeted us so warmly, lovingly. And yes, she was a classy lady, always beautifully and appropriately attired. We will cherish our memories of Bill and Rose. We send our heartfelt sympathy to all the family.
