Ruth Carol Lindorff
Feb. 9, 1949 - Aug. 29, 2022
MADISON - Ruth Carol Lindorff, age 73, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge. She was born on Feb. 9, 1949, in Milwaukee, the daughter of William and Linda (Gerner) Kalweit.
Ruth graduated from Grafton High School in 1967 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1972 with a degree in Fashion Retail. It was at the UW that she met her husband, David Lindorff, when both were active at the Lutheran Campus Center. They were married on June 10, 1972, in Grafton, Wis.
Ruth worked at department stores in Philadelphia and Champaign before returning to Madison in 1981. Ruth and David raised two sons, Paul and Tim, of whom Ruth was very proud. Ruth had a strong faith and shared a deep concern for those in need.
In 1996, she got her dream job working for the Wisconsin Alumni Association. While there, she was able to proudly display her Badgers pride in a variety of ways: cheering on the Badgers, attending Bowl games, and acting as a Badgers ambassador in travels with WAA across the United States and Europe. While pink was her favorite color, Badgers Red was always a staple of her wardrobe. She retired in 2012 and enjoyed spoiling her two precious granddaughters. Ruth also enjoyed shopping anytime. She especially treasured family gatherings and was very close to her sister, Joan.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Dave; sons, Paul (Beth) Lindorff and Timothy Lindorff; granddaughters, Stella Lindorff and Bianca Lindorff; brother, Harvey (Edie) Kalweit; sisters, Susan (Phil) Skowbo and Joan Kalweit; and sister-in-law, Julie Lindorff. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Linda.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Oakwood Knoll memory care unit for their compassion and the loving care they gave to Ruth.
A memorial service will be held at the TREE OF LIFE CHAPEL AT OAKWOOD VILLAGE PRAIRIE RIDGE, 5565 Tancho Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow.
Memorials may be gifted in Ruth's name to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the Oakwood Foundation (oakwoodfoundationinc.org).
