Shirley Jean Gibb Morrison
March 7, 1936 - April 15, 2022
MADISON - Shirley Jean Gibb Morrison, of Madison, WI, died on Friday, April 15, with her family at her hospital bedside.
Shirley was born to Lydia and David Gibb in Rosedale, PA, on March 7, 1936. After graduating from Penn Township High School, Shirley earned an RN from Columbia Hospital School of Nursing in Wilkinsburg, PA. She married Joseph Terence (Terry) Morrison in 1958, and from that point forward, lived in many different states and towns until ending up in Madison, WI, in 1983.
Their lives were invested in the university world, where Terry taught chemistry and later ministered on campus as part of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. All those years Shirley opened their home to students and professors, especially those from overseas, and encouraged and coached students to grow in their Christian lives.
Shirley loved music, serving as church organist, pianist, and choir director in multiple churches over the years, as well as being a piano teacher in Madison. She enjoyed hosting people and was famous for her Toll House marble squares.
Shirley is survived by her husband Terry; daughters: Shawn, Erin Jimenez (Carlos), and Tara Sullivan (Patrick); and grandchildren: Carlos III, Elizabeth and Aidan.
Shirley will be buried in Springdale, PA, and a celebration of life will be held in Madison at Geneva Campus Church on August 6, 2022.
No flowers, please. Gifts to honor Shirley's memory can be sent to: https://ifes.world/morrison, which will support ministry to/with university students in Ukraine.
