Steven "Steve" Biedermann
Aug. 10, 1949 - April 30, 2022
MADISON - Steven "Steve" Biedermann, age 72, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Aug. 10, 1949, in Madison, the son of Donald Biedermann and Helen Albrecht.
Steve graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1967, Concordia Lutheran College in 1971 and then attended the seminary. He was united in marriage to Mickey Hayden (nee Rosenberg)on Aug. 10, 1997, in Camden, Maine.
Steve enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1993 at the rank of Lt. Commander. He was a graduate of OCS in 1974 and became a life member of the VFW and American Legion after discharge. He was proud of his military career and continued to serve after discharge by volunteering as a Blue & Gold Officer who interviewed area high school students wishing to attend the U.S. Naval Academy. He was an avid Geocacher for many years and "The Commander" was a leader, friend and mentor of many new and established cachers.
Steve traveled the world during his time in the military and later enjoyed traveling coast to coast with Mickey to visit family members and to grow his geocaching finds. He was a student of the Bible, an active member of his church and enjoyed interacting with his Pastor and church family.
Steve is survived by his wife, Mickey; daughter, Laura (Fran) Pilon; two grandchildren, Kierstin Pilon and Edward Pilon; and sister, Wanda (Rodney) Maass. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Donald; son, Aaron Biedermann; and nephew, Christopher Maass.
A funeral service will be held at WEST MIDDLETON LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3763 Pioneer Road, Verona, at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022, with Pastor Connie Matye presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2022, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
Memorials may be gifted in Steve's name to West Middleton Lutheran Church.
