Suzy H. Weidemann
May 5, 1937 - April 27, 2022
MADISON - Suzy H. Weidemann, age 84, passed away on April 27, 2022, in Powell, TN.
Suzy was born Harue Yamagishi, to Genkichi and Hisa Yamagishi, on May 5, 1937, in Hanno, Japan. Having grown up in a large family with eight siblings, Suzy loved to be together with family and friends.
Suzy is survived by her son, Daniel Weidemann; daughter, Annette Bennett and her husband, David Bennett, and grandchildren: Devon and Jade Bennett; and numerous siblings and nieces and nephews in Japan.
Suzy is preceded in death by her parents, Genkichi and Hisa Yamagishi; and her husband, Ronald Weidemann.
After graduating from Hanno High School, Suzy went on to apprenticeship school for sewing. Rather than pursue a career in sewing, Suzy chose a more sociable job at a nearby Officer's Club for the U.S. Air Force. It was here that Suzy met such celebrities as Bob Hope and Yul Brynner, and most importantly her future husband Ronald Weidemann.
Suzy and Ronald Weidemann were married in Japan, on February 8, 1963. They both traveled the world while Ronald was in the Air Force, mostly in Japan, Nebraska, Taiwan and Missouri. While in Missouri, Suzy enjoyed cooking, taking care of her children, and using her sewing skills to make clothing for her children, Annette and Daniel. Suzy enjoyed cooking and sewing very much, as she cooked up until her final days and used her sewing skills to make masks during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Suzy and Ron moved their family to Madison, WI, in 1975, as Ron chose to work for the University of Wisconsin and be closer to his parents. After both children were in school, Suzy entered the workforce as a banquet waitress at the Sheraton, and made many new friends. Again, Suzy served many celebrities such as Eric Clapton and Billy Joel.
After retirement, Suzy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Suzy also enjoyed going to bingo, where she made many new friends and had fun playing. Suzy spent the last few months of her life in Eastern Tennessee to be close to her son Daniel.
Suzy's Celebration of Life will be at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 East Washington Ave., Madison, WI, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
