Thomas F. Gabel, 78, passed away on October 19 after a brief illness at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI.

Tom was born December 29, 1945 in DeKalb, IL. He graduated from Aquin High School in 1963, and went on to attend Highland Community College, Freeport and Pasadena (CA) Community Colleges. As a Vietnam Veteran, he proudly served in the Air Force and Marines during which he completed Vietnamese Language courses and received the National Defense Service Medal.

On January 15, 1972 he married Donna Jedlicka in Richmond, IL and they made their home in Delavan, WI, Lansing, MI, Madison, WI, last settling in Arlington, WI in 1980. Tom was very active in his community as a member of the American Legion, coaching many of his kids' sports including baseball and football. He and Donna loved meeting up with friends for dinner and visiting family. Tom's family was his greatest joy and he was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren, as you would quickly learn in talking with him.

Tom also enjoyed daily morning coffee with his friends, he had a love for motorcycles, boating, fishing, and hunting. He could often be found walking his prized pup Hunter around town and at the dog park.

Tom is survived by his wife Donna Gabel and children Jason (Christi Jorde), Ryan (Shannon Cry), Scott (Maggie Deiss), and Kelli (Craig Karmazin); Grandchildren Rhett Gabel, Harper Karmazin, and Max Jorde; and many treasured friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Hazel, brother-in-law Richard Jedlicka, nephew Tommy Swadley, and in-laws Edward and Edith Jedlicka.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ER, ICU, PCU and Hospice Wing of St. Mary's Hospital for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Columbia County Humane Society.

Mass will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church 655 S Main St., Poynette, WI on Saturday, November 16 at 11 a.m. Visitation is from 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. Lunch will be held at the Arlington Community Center following Mass.

I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was always there to assist me on my projects when I first moved into town. Many stories of both him and Donna. We have lost a great Community leader and a friend. I am thankful for all my memories of Tom and his friend family
