PHOENIX, Ariz. - William Dean Warren, age 82, of Phoenix, Ariz., passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025. He was born on May 15, 1943, in Madison, the son of Robert and Betty Jean (Kramer) Warren.
William graduated from Madison East High School in 1961. He went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, proudly stationed aboard the USS Stickell alongside his brother, Robert James Warren. William carried extra American flags with him, always ready to replace any he found worn or tattered - a quiet but powerful testament to his deep love for his country.
Following his military service, William dedicated 24 years to the Arizona Department of Corrections, where he rose to the rank of captain before retiring. In retirement, he found joy in the game of golf and gave back to his community by volunteering with the local fire department where he served as the department's captain.
William is survived by his daughters, Barbara Schultz, and Rebecca (Chad) Jaeger; sons, William D. (Shannon) Warren, and Steven Warren; sisters, Judy (Arthur) Cresson, and Bonnie Lynn Warren; and loving friend, Sandy Black. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Betty; and brother, Robert.
Graveside service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
