She enrolled and completed the LPN course at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls and worked at the Madison Hospital for four years. On September 17, 1960, she married Thomas McCool. She started working as a teacher's aide in 1971 for kindergarten at Washington Elementary and liked it so much she stayed on for several years after. For over 20 years, she served as a sales representative for the Madison Daily Leader, a position she thoroughly enjoyed. After retirement, Glennys worked 2 days a week at the Shepherd's Shop downtown.
In her spare time, Glennys enjoyed reading, attending book club meetings, and completing adult coloring book pages. She took great pleasure in having breakfast and coffee with her friends, shopping trips to Sioux Falls with Lori, and especially spending time with her grandkids. Glennys was also involved in church activities over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tom of Madison; daughter, Lori (Gerald) Rook of Watertown; son, Dean of Madison; two grandchildren, Justin and Jacob Rook of Watertown and Sioux Falls; brother, Doug (Burdeen) Johnson of Madison; and several nieces and nephews.
