Robert Backhaus Obituary
Robert "Bob" Backhaus, age 74, of Wilmot died Thursday, May 9.
A Celebration of Life service will be held June 1 at noon at the Wilmot Community Center.
Bob was born Sept. 20, 1949, in Garretson to William and Orpha (Henjum) Backhaus.
In 1969, Bob married Cecilia Obenland and had two children, Annalisa and Keith.
Bob married DeDe Minnala on Feb. 14, 1993. In March 1998, he became employed by South Dakota DOT. In 2012, they settled in Wilmot. Bob retired from the State as a regional DOT Highway Maintenance Supervisor on June 8th, 2014.
Bob is survived by his wife DeDe; Ceclia Obenland Joder; daughter, Annalisa Grand: son, Keith Backhaus; step-son, Andrew; and many other relatives.
