Clayton Vanderpool Obituary

Clayton Charles Vanderpool

September 4, 1956 - November 13, 2025

Clayton Charles Vanderpool, 69, of Kimberly went to be with his Heavenly Father on November 13, 2025.

Clay was born at Hamilton Air Force Base in Novato, California on September 4, 1956, to Max and Sheila (Godfrey) Vanderpool. An "army brat", Clay spent his formative years in Saxmundham and Ipswich, United Kingdom. A Brit at heart, he not only loved England but all things English, especially his tea. In 1972, following his father's retirement from the military, the family returned to the states and settled in the Magic Valley.

In 1981, he married Rachel Reyes (Burdick) and together they welcomed two children; Teresa Nicole and Clayton Joseph. A 'Jack of all Trades', Clayton worked in various roles throughout his life. He was extremely hard-working and dedicated. He spent time as a disc jockey, truck driver, and had just about every other job in between; Clay did it all. His most enjoyable stint was the fifteen years spent in the Sierra National Forest. God's country was amongst his favorite places to be and where he felt most at home.

Clay was one-of-a-kind and will be greatly missed but always be remembered deep within our hearts.

Clayton is survived by his loving partner of twenty-five years, Joan Black (Julie, Jackie & Corey); his children, Teresa Nicole (John) Cantu, and Clayton Joseph (Mallory) Vanderpool, as well as his five grandchildren; Jaden, Jorden, Gabriel, Gweneth, and Korra. Additionally, he leaves behind his best friend of over fifty years, Bob (Carrie) Patterson, who was like a brother he never had.

He is preceded by his parents, Max & Sheila Vanderpool, and son-in-law, Travis Berkley.
