September 1, 1935 – August 3, 2021
On August 3, 2021 Henry Alvin Jones passed away in Garland, Texas, he was 85 years old. He was born on September 1, 1935, in Ovette, Mississippi. He served proudly in the United States Air Force in Mountain Home, Idaho. He met the love of his life, Carol, on a blind date in Twin Falls, Idaho. They were married soon after and lived happily together for 63 years.
Henry owned Phillips 66 Service on Blue Lakes Blvd in Twin Falls, Idaho. He then went to work in the grocery business for Buttrey Foods, Williams Market, and then moved onto retire from the College of Southern Idaho as a Security Officer. In his younger years, Henry enjoyed bowling, even winning many tournament trophies, fishing, and pheasant hunting. In later years, Henry and Carol could be found a couple of times a week in Jackpot where Henry enjoyed playing poker and Carol enjoyed the slots. Henry enjoyed spending time with family and playing monopoly and cards with his grandsons Devan and Zak. Henry was the best dad you could ask for, a great father-in-law and a wonderful grandfather. At the end of most family visits, his parting words to his kids and grandkids were "Don't take any wooden nickels".
We will miss him dearly.
