Joanna Kirstin Leavitt
Aug. 28, 2022 - Oct. 2, 2023
TWIN FALLS - Joanna Kirstin Leavitt was born August 28, 2022 in Twin Falls, ID - the beautiful daughter of Jonah and Hayley Leavitt. She passed away at Seattle Children's Hospital, October 2, 2023.
JoJo came to this earth carrying an exceedingly difficult challenge: a rare undiagnosed lung disease which prevented her from breathing on her own. She was in the care of hospitals since she was born. Her condition worsened over the last year, but her family advocated strongly for every possible action that could get her to live a full and happy life.
Last month, she was flown to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to be evaluated for lung transplant. When she wasn't deemed a candidate, she was flown back to Seattle Children's Hospital. Pediatric doctors across the nation knew about our rare little Joanna and through her, much was learned and discovered which will go on to help and serve other children.
Joanna was never left alone. There was always a family member there with her. Her parents and grandparents took turns in Seattle with their precious girl. Joanna enjoyed being held, listening to stories, her soft yellow Duckie, rattles, stuffed elephants, music, physical therapy, and Ms. Rachel.
Our darling JoJo was an organ donor, gifting other sick children the precious gift of life through her. JoJo's big expressive brown eyes, ready smile and tenacity in the face of many medical procedures inspired all of us who knew and adored her. She is the strongest person we know and will always be our little Hero.
Although Joanna was with us for a short while, her ability to keep showing up with optimism and sunshine each day will never be forgotten. Whether in this life or the next, she will always be our best little friend. Fly high, sweet baby girl.
A celebration of Joanna's life will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Rosenau Funeral Home in Twin Falls, ID. A light lunch for all in attendance will be served afterwards in the Rosenau community room.
