Jon Crane Obituary

It goes without saying that the world will never know another man like Jon Gordon Crane (1959-2025). His needs were simple, but his heart and the way he loved were deeper than most knew. He was a great storyteller and could make you laugh but more importantly he always got a crack out of himself! I'd call him and say, "How are you today?" and his reply would be, "Well, I'm so fine I can't stand myself."

Jon has known nothing but hard work during his life and with that came grit. He came from a long line of hardworking Scots and Danes. He grew up farming and raising livestock with his father, Rex, and enjoyed that for much of his life. He then worked for ConAgra and Haney Seed out of Hazelton before operating the forks for over 20 years for the Twin Falls Canal Company. He always had a passion for AG and enjoyed working with farmers daily. He truly got to do what he loved during his lifetime.

Motorcycles and sports were something he excelled at in his youth. He fought wildland fires for the Forest Service Sawtooth crew. Many have fond memories of him as their scout leader. He also enjoyed hunting, scouting, being a steward of the land, and writing poetry. Later in his life he volunteered his time maintaining Artesian City and Milner cemeteries. He enjoyed reading and learning about local history. Doing this volunteer work was very important to him. He very much respected the pioneers who settled and established these historic areas.

You could find him between Hansen or Mink Creek, Idaho to Yucca or Tombstone, Ariz. The son of Rex and Brucia Crane, Jon had four children: Jenny Crane Hoagland (Melba, Idaho), Mary Crane Nutter (Touchet, Wash.), Sarah Crane (New Braunfels, Texas), and Nathaniel Crane (Burley, Idaho); and five grand-girls that he loved and adored so deeply. We are deeply mournful at his sudden and unexpected passing but hold dear to our hearts our many vibrant memories with him. We know he will be missed in his community of farmers and friends. We will miss seeing him cruise around on the high line in his Ford with his straw hat tilted, his wave to greet us, and his happy dogs in the truck bed.

Home again home again jiggity jig.
