Karla Pippitt Obituary

Karla Jean (Paxton) Pippitt

October 16, 1949 - October 13, 2025

Karla Jean (Paxton) Pippitt was born on October 16, 1949, in Twin Falls, ID, to Alma (Mulder) and George Paxton. She died peacefully with her loving husband and children at her side on October 13, 2025. She attended Lutheran School with her younger brothers, John, Brent, and Jim, and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1968.

She met the love of her life Dale Pippitt in 1965. They maintained a long-distance relationship until she was able to join him in Lawrence, KS, to attend University of Kansas where she studied elementary education. Rock Chalk Jayhawk. They were married on June 13, 1970, and they were married for 55 incredible years. After Dale graduated, they returned to Twin Falls, where they later bought Floyd Lilly Company. Karla loved getting to know all the regulars, often giving some good-natured teasing as a way of showing affection. They retired in 2017, after an enjoyable 40 years in business.

They had a son Matt, followed by an infant son, Andrew who died at birth. Their daughter, Karly, was born a few years later. Karla was the best mother to her kids, and they were the world to her. She loved watching them grow up, succeed, and start their own families. She was especially excited to be a grandmother to Elyse. She visited regularly, happy to watch grandkids and granddogs, and she especially enjoyed taking vacations as a family.

She joined PEO, Chapter BE in 1999 and found many lifelong friendships with these women. She enjoyed working on local and state projects for this philanthropic group as well as multiple leadership positions.

Karla was well known for her green thumb. Her yard was always filled with beautiful flowers year-round. She loved experimenting with different color combinations and flowers every year. Her kale plants especially drew compliments. This keen eye translated well to her new hobby of quilting which she took up after retiring. She especially loved coming up with beautiful color combinations and patterns to create quilts to gift to friends and family. As in the rest of her career, she couldn't do this hobby without Dale, and he took up quilting about a year after her. Their "Be Nice Quilting" projects were beloved by all who received them. She was an avid reader, always with a good recommendation she knew you'd like.

In retirement, they enjoyed visiting their family, cabin – where she especially enjoyed riding with Dale in the kayak, their weekly McFriday's group, and a birthday club who gathered regularly for lunches.

Ever the dutiful daughter, she helped care for her parents into their mid-90s, visiting almost daily. She is survived by her husband; her children, Matt Pippitt and Karly (Rich Patten) Pippitt; her granddaughter, Elyse Pippitt; her brothers; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her infant son; her brother, John; and her parents.

The family would like to thank Visions Hospice and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday, October 24, at 10 a.m., with a viewing at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family recommendations donations in her name to PEO, Twin Falls Library, or Immanuel Lutheran.

So sorry, sad and surprised to hear of Karla's passing. We just reconnected at the TF class reunion this summer. We talked a lot about quilting, fabric hoarding and shared interests. We share more than the name "Karla Jean."
I am standing behind her and to the side (in blue) in the class picture we took. Looks like she lived a full, rich and happy life. May God bless and comfort her family. Rejoice in every beautiful stitch she left in the "Life's Memory Quilt" she created for you all to remember her.

Karla will be missed assuredly, but it will be for a short time as we will see one another in the next life. My prayers will include my friends: Dale, Jim, and Brent as they mourn and celebrate the life of their loved one.

Karla was a very special lady, warm, caring, quite intelligent, curious about the world around her, I was honored to have known her, she made my life better just because of her friendship.

Karla was so encouraging to me as I began to learn to quilt. The first few quilts I took Dale were all the same pattern. Karla told me that I needed to try a new pattern. She showed me several she thought I could try as a beginner. Karla was always helpful when trying to decide on a quilt design for my quilt. She and Dale were quite the team.
