Willa Stricklan Obituary

Willa "Claudene" Marble Stricklan

September 23, 1936 - November 29, 2025

Willa "Claudene" Marble Stricklan died on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at a local care facility. Claudene was born to Marion Marie Petersen and Claud Myron Marble on September 23, 1936, in Malad, Idaho. She joined a sister EuRetta Marie that was 13 months older and 15 months later Douglas LaMont was born. The family lived in Holbrook, Idaho till 1939 when they moved to farm in Wendell.

She graduated from Wendell High School in 1955. She had met a handsome man at a dance in Hagerman named Raymond Stricklan and they were married on May 17, 1955. She was a member of the Buhl First Christian Church and loved her Lord dearly.

Claudene worked as an Avon lady from 1962 till 1970 where she met all the neighbors in Melon Valley and Lucerne. She made many lasting friendships and just enjoyed a reason to visit. Ray introduced her to bowling and he was a great teacher, because she excelled and held many high average and high series awards. Ray and Claudene spent many late nights playing pinochle and other games with family and friends. She enjoyed her time with so many friends and was always laughing.

Claudene worked at Conover's Candy for 2 years in the 70's making hand dipped chocolates along with her friend Pearl Beams. She worked at Green Giant during pack for 21 years, most of that time in the knife honing room. She made so many more friendships there and looked forward to seeing them year after year. She began working at the Buhl First Christian Church as a secretary in 1977 and continued working there till 2019.

Raymond passed away in 1985, and she kept herself busy bowling, playing pinochle and bunko. In the fall of 1985, she joined Parents without Partners where she became very involved and held several offices including President. It was at another dance in 1989 that she met an old rodeo cowboy named Bugs Moseley. The two of them kept each other company by either meeting for pie and coffee every Wednesday night, Saturday drives to ghost towns, going dancing or meeting at Jackson's for dinner. They called each other every night to make sure they had each made it home safely and remained close until he passed away in 2015.

From 1992 till 1999, she worked mornings at the church and worked in the afternoons at the Twin Falls Elks Lodge as the Club Secretary again making more friends. She loved visiting with all the Elks members and wives that would stop in.

Claudene spent many years traveling with her bowling team to National Bowling tournaments all over the United States and even to Canada. She looked forward to their yearly trip, and they always had stories and more laughter was heard when they returned.

She is survived by her children, Ray Stricklan, Jr. and Tawna (John) Root. Her grandchildren, Trevor Root and Ashley (Judd) Engelhardt; sister, EuRetta Kurtz; brother, Doug Marble; sister-in-law, Letty (Jerry) Beerly; brother-in-law Ross (Toni) Stricklan. She also has two bonus grandchildren, Cody (Abby) Root and Connor Root.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Teresa; brothers-in-law, Kenneth, Darrel and Don; sisters-in-law, Marta and Jan; nephew, Brett; and niece, Catherine.

The family would like to thank Tammy and the staff at Syringa Place for giving mom a home that she loved and didn't want to leave. Also, Ashley and the girls at Chardonnay for taking such good care of her.

Donations may be made to Intermountain Christian Camp in Fairfield, Boise Bible College or to a youth organization of your choice.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 13, 2025, 1:00pm at First Christian Church, 1005 Poplar Street, Buhl, Idaho 83316.
