Barbara A. Novosel McKenzie, 83, died unexpectedly Tuesday March 5, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born May 3, 1940 in Youngstown, a daughter of Nicholas E. and Zita M. Choppa Novosel. Barb graduated from Ursuline High School and was a lifelong resident of Hubbard. She was employed at US Steel until its closing, then worked at RMI Titanium until retiring in 2002. She leaves a daughter, Michelle (Tom Kirk) of Arcata, CA; a son Kenneth (Mars Lesko); three brothers, Nicholas (Jaine) Novosel of Lexington, KY; Dr. Edward (Colleen) Novosel of Liberty, and Thomas (Marianne Tarr) Novosel of Hubbard; a sister Rosemary (Steve) Yaniglos of Boardman, and two grandchildren, Zeke and Samantha. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Debbie McKenzie. She was a friend to all animals. After retirement, many years were dedicated to rescuing and fostering stray animals along with her dear friend Linda Becker. She found great joy in feeding wild birds and being in nature. Private services will be held at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Hubbard, in early April. The family would like to extend our gratitude to her friends and staff at Elmwood Assisted Living, especially Babie.
