Dennis McElfresh Obituary
Dennis was born in Warren, Ohio on June 30, 1950 the son of Abram Lee and Irma (Fisher) McElfresh and has lived in this area all his life. He was a 1968 graduate of Mineral Ridge High School and attained an Associate Degree from Trumbull Business College. He was employed for over 18 years as a tool and die maker for the Niles Expanded Metals Company and was a contract auditor for the B. P. Oil Company.
Dennis was an incredible father and Poppy. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. He cherished the time spent attending all of their activities. Dennis was proud of his Scottish heritage and marching in his Clan Tartans in the Highland games. He was of the Catholic faith and served for many years as an Eucharistic minister at Saint Stephen Church and Saint Cyril and Methodist Church. Dennis was a history buff and loved reading and woodworking projects. For many years, he was an active member of the John F. Kennedy H. S. football program as the equipment manager, an originator of the Niles Youth Soccer League and participated in many American Civil War reenactments.
Dennis is survived by his wife Maryann L. (Yandura) McElfresh whom he married on September 8, 1973; three children, Patrick "PJ" (Tara) McElfresh of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tracy (Seamus) McMahon of Avon Lake, Vincent (Stephanie) McElfresh of Cuyahoga Falls; seven grandchildren, Neila, Liadan and Eamonn McElfresh, Kayleigh, Padraig, Conall, and Keira McMahon; brother, Gary L. (Carol) McElfresh of Toledo. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday April 23, 2022 at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A Service of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. with Deacon Frank Marino from St. Stephen Church. At 4 p.m. Patrick and Vincent will eulogize their dad and the service will conclude with a traditional Scottish bagpipe tribute.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Trumbull Mobile Meals.
