Donald G. Walker

Donald Gilbert Walker, age 88, of Warren (Bazetta), Ohio passed away on June 7, 2024. Donald (often referred to as Don or Donnie by his close friends and relatives) was born on May 15, 1936 to Muriel Walker and raised by his grandparents Eddie and Leiugania Dooms in Morgantown, West Virginia. While growing up with his grandparents, Don always talked about his time working in his grandfather's pie shop (Eddie Dooms the Hamburger King Restaurant) in downtown Morgantown. After graduating from Morgantown High School, he went on to study at West Virginia University, and then moved to Warren, Ohio. In 1966 he married Eglociree ("Sis") Smith and they later had two children, Yvonne Walker of Tacoma, Washington and Anthony "Tony" Walker of Republic, Ohio. After Don moved from West Virginia to Ohio, he worked for a short time at Durig's Trucking company. Later he began working for General Electric – Mahoning Glass and continued working there for 35.5 years until he retired in 2000. Don loved making pies, spending time outdoors specifically hunting and fishing, and of course spending time with his three grandchildren, Sierra, Xavier, and Samantha Walker. Don was a devoted husband, loving and supportive father, and will be truly missed by all that knew him. He was a man of strong faith and he taught us the importance of family and hard work. Don was predeceased by his grandparents (Eddie and Leiugania Dooms), his mother (Muriel), and a brother (Richard Walker). He is survived by his wife Eglociree "Sis" Walker; his daughter Yvonne; his son Tony (and daughter in-law Jennifer) and their three children Sierra, Xavier, and Samantha; four siblings that include Glenn Walker Jr. (Sharon) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Eugene Walker (Ruthie) of Vienna, Ohio, Floyd Walker (Gloria - deceased) of Pensacola, Florida, and Charles Walker (Rosemary) of Niles, Ohio; and cousins Sharron D. Shelton of Warren, Ohio, Anita Shelton-Strangeways (Ian) of Glasgow, Scotland, Annalee Stevens (Kenneth) of Morgantown, West Virginia, Donna Rae Pitts (Randy Lewis) of Elyria, Ohio, and Norma L. Beasley of Orlando, Florida. Services will take place at 4pm on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home located at 962 North Rd NE, in Warren, Ohio. Calling hours will take place prior to the services from 2pm to 4pm. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown, West Virginia.
