Elizabeth A Rieser

Elizabeth A. " Liz" Rieser, 77, of Girard, passed away on Monday July 15, 2024 at Trumbull Regional Medical Center in Warren. She was born January 9, 1947 in Thomas, West Virginia the daughter of James and Eleanor Chechitelli Avona. Liz was a 1964 graduate of Girard High School, attended Youngstown State University, and then graduated from Trumbull Business College where she studied Medical Billing. She was employed at Phar-Mor and at Northside Medical Center in Youngstown in the medical records department. Liz was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard. She loved to volunteer her time at The Animal Welfare League due to her love of animals especially dogs. She was known to have brought in a stray dog or two in her life. She enjoyed Cleveland Sports, Ohio State Buckeye Sports, and was known for her hatred of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Liz was the ultimate playground mom often being found on the grounds of Mt. Carmel School keeping an eye on her children and others. She will be sadly missed by her son Derek Rieser and his wife Lauren of Niles, her daughter Terri Rieser( Jon McClure) of Girard, her brother James Avona and his wife Linda of Poland, and six grandchildren, Kayla Pollifrone and her husband Michael, Julia Rieser, Meghan Rieser, Beau Kornmueller, Giavanna Kornmueller, and Sean Patrick McClure. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7PM at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles. Funeral services will be held 7PM Friday at The Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be in Girard City Cemetery.
