Harry Truman Wilson: August 9, 1946 - October 3, 2025
Harry Truman Wilson departed this life peacefully in the early morning of October 3, 2025. Born in Mason, Tennessee on August 9, 1946, Harry was one of ten children born to Tommie Hughlett and Robert Wiggins Wilson. Affectionately known as "Truman" to his family and loved ones, he was best known for his strength, ambition, humor, wisdom and the unwavering love and protection of his family.
Following his graduation from high school, Harry entered the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Bangor Maine for four years. While visiting home on leave, he met his wife Lucille on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. They married on February 27, 1968 in Cleveland, Ohio where they raised their three children, Erica, Michael and Lori. They relocated to Boardman, Ohio in 1994 and joined Rising Star Baptist Church in 1998.
Over the course of his career, Harry worked as an IT Manager for a variety of companies, including many years at Society National Bank in Cleveland. He retired from ACS in 2007, allowing him to redirect his energy to his hobbies, family and faith. Harry served as a Trustee for Rising Star Baptist church for over two decades and was recently recognized as official church elder in 2023. He was also actively involved in the Men's Ministry, and cherished his regular fellowship at the Men's Prayer Breakfast.
Outside his church involvement, Harry was passionate about traveling, working in the yard, sports, and being an engaged grandparent, making sure to attend as many sporting events and milestone moments as possible. He was also an active member of the YMCA where he regularly enjoyed exercising and playing basketball.
Harry is survived by his brother, Dewey (Donna) Wilson of Seattle, his three children: Erica (Scot) Huebner of Boardman, Michael (Lisa) Wilson of Las Vegas, Lori (Kurtis) Brown of Detroit, seven grandchildren: Ashley Wilson, Kiara Wilson, Arielle (Michael) Stratton, Dominic Easterling, Erin Wilson, Kendall Brown, Jordan Brown, three great-grandchildren: Nina Schorsten, Avori Williams and Kamden Wilson, as well as a host of beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends, to include his very good friend Charles Callahan of Twinsburg.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Lucille Wilson, his parents, Tommie and Robert, and eight siblings.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 14 at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44505, from 5-7pm. At 6:30 p.m. Pastor Kenneth M. Donaldson will make brief remarks followed by military honors. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
A private interment service will take place on Wednesday, October 15 in Cleveland, Ohio.
