Jennie Josephine (Liana) Nethers, 102, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Sacramento California the morning of Tuesday November 5th after having lived an amazing, full life.
Jennie was born October 9, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Leon Liana and was a middle child of five siblings: Anna Liana; John (Jean) Liana; Stella (Ed) Zebrasky; Mary (George) O'Hare; and Helen Liana. She spent her early years on a farm in Mahoning County before the family moved to Idora Avenue. She was a 1940 graduate of South High School in Youngstown, OH.
For 46 years Jennie was the devoted wife of Richard. W. (Dick) Nethers whom she married on May 8, 1954. Dick passed away on July 14, 2000. Together they had twins, David and Barbara, born August 17, 1959. She was an ardent supporter and advocate of her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
During her many years living in Poland, she was active in the Youngstown Chapter of the Mothers of Twins Club which named her 1975 "Mother of the Year", a Pink Lady volunteer with the Youngstown Hospital Association, an employee of Youngstown Sheet and Tube, Sharon Steel, and the Poland Local School District where she wore many hats. She was an amazing cook whose ornate confectionaries entertained many guests at numerous weddings, holidays and other occasions.
At the age of 94 Jennie left her home of 62 years in Poland, OH to live with her daughter Barbara and her husband Dr. J. Stephen Pinson in Gold River California where she remained incredibly active, travelling the world with them through her 101st year of life.
She leaves behind her two adult children Barbara (Steve) Pinson, of Gold River California, her son David (Cindy) Nethers, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, her treasured granddaughter Claire Pinson, and her grandsons Adam Pinson, U.S. Army SSG Matthew (Casey) Nethers and U.S. Army Cpl. Johnathan Nethers, as well as her great-granddaughter Oaklynn.
She is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husband Richard and many, many of her friends and neighbors.
A private burial will be held with close family in attendance in Youngstown where she will lie next to her late husband at Calvary Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at Epiclesis Church in Sacramento at a future date.
