Joann Loth Obituary
Edinburg - Joann Hildreth Loth, 97 of Edinburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Joann began her life's journey August 3, 1928 in Enterprise, AL. She was a daughter to the late Jesse Lee and Rosa Mae (Logan) Hildreth. Joann graduated from Enterprise High School and attended Murray State University, after which she returned to Enterprise where she was secretary to the Enterprise High School principal. During this time, she met her future husband, John H. Loth who was stationed at the nearby Fort Rucker Army Base. They married June 15, 1951 and in 1952 they moved to John's beloved family century home in Edinburg, PA where they raised three children.
In 2000 Joann retired, after a 30-year career in the accounting office of LaMark Corporation in New Castle, PA. She spent her retirement years pursuing many interests. Winters were spent in Texas with her daughter where Joann enjoyed senior activities including her favorite, dancing. She also belonged to a 500 card club and a bridge club where she made cherished lifelong friendships. Joann also loved the arts and enjoyed cultural activities. She loved baking and cooking and was known for her southern recipes, the favorites being pecan pie and fried chicken.
An avid reader, Joann always had a book to read and another waiting to be read. As PTA president of her children's elementary school, which did not have a library, she fulfilled her vison with the help of other volunteers, to create a library for the school and fill it with books.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her loving husband, John H. Loth, who passed away on July 19, 1991; her brothers, Benjamin Hildreth (Betty), James Hildreth (Christine), Max Hildreth (Doris), and sisters, Elaine Price (Carl), Doris Cooper (Bancroft), and Betty Carter (Otto).
Surviving is one brother, Lloyd Hildreth (Ann) of Marietta, GA; and her children, Melissa (Bob) Lowry of Boardman, OH; Elaine (Kenneth) Brainard of Richmond, TX; John Loth, Jr, of Edinburg, PA.; her beloved grandchildren, Jarrod Lowry (long-time partner Amanda) of Boardman, OH and Tessa Lowry (fiancé Kevin Disotell) both of Columbus, OH.
A private viewing will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, OH 44436. A committal service will immediately follow at Lowellville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joann's name to Mahoning Presbyterian Church, 4401 Sky Hill Road, Pulaski, PA 16143.
