Kevin Johnson Obituary
Kevin Michael Johnson Sr. was born on August 10, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio, and peacefully departed this life on October 23, 2025. A proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1986, Kevin went on to serve his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Following his military service, he dedicated his professional life to helping others as a Behavioral Health Technician at River Vista Behavioral Health in Columbus, Ohio. He made his home in Columbus, where he remained close to his beloved children and grandchildren. Kevin was also a man of faith and regularly attended Christ Centered Church in Youngstown, Ohio.
Kevin found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, sharing laughter with family and friends, and never missed an opportunity to send a birthday wish or offer words of encouragement. He was quick to forgive, eager to unite his loved ones, and known for his radiant smile, contagious laughter, and generous heart. His warmth left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
From a young age, Kevin was unstoppable-mischievous, full of energy, fun-loving, curious, and determined. As an adult, he lived boldly and on his own terms. He spoke his mind, loved without reservation, and embraced everyone with an open heart. His charm drew people to him, and his love kept them close. He enjoyed singing, dancing, and spending time surrounded by those he cherished most.
Kevin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family. He is survived by his wife Kristie Johnson, children: Timothy Davis, Kevin Johnson Jr. (India), Precious Johnson and Devin Johnson, 21 grandchildren who he adored; his devoted mother, Jo-Ann McQueen; and his siblings: Cynthia Brock. Crystal Veneable (Michael), Keith Johnson (Amber), Hiawatha Johnson Jr. (Sabrina), Kadeja Johnson (Emmett), Karnina Szymanski, Kismet Johnson, Kamille Johnson, Kellie Johnson, brothers in love Joseph Williamson and Robert Walla (Tara) and special sister Capria Felder. Kevin also leaves his longtime companion, Judy Dickerson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Kevin's spirit continues to walk beside those he loved. His laughter echoing, his gentleness lingering, his love everlasting. Now resting in the arms of the Lord, his light still shines through every shared smile, every show of love, and every cherished memory he leaves behind.
Kevin was preceded in death by his revered father, Hiawatha Johnson Sr; beloved grandson, Prince Bolden; cherished grandparents, and his very close cousin Anthony Brock, who was like a brother to him.
To honor Kevin's life and legacy, the family is inviting the community to a 10:00 AM public viewing on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Tabernacle Boulevard, Youngstown. The Celebration of Life services will begin at 11:00 AM with Bishop Kenneth W. Paramore, officiating.
After the committal ceremony, Kevin will rest peaceably upon the serene estate of the Tod Homestead Cemetery. As we prepare for this bittersweet farewell, let us hold onto the lessons he taught us, to love fiercely and to live with purpose, just as he did. Kevin, you will always be in our hearts, your memory will shine brightly as we carry your spirit forward. As his daughter lovingly reminds us with Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever"
