Linda Pregi Obituary
Boardman - Linda A. Pregi, 76, of Boardman, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 26, 2024 after a long four-year battle from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's Disease.
Linda was born on August 1, 1947 in Youngstown, the daughter of William and Peggy (Eckert) George.
She was raised in New Middletown until the family moved to Boardman and she graduated from Boardman High School in 1965. Linda worked various jobs and in 1971 she met the love of her life, Thomas Pregi, two days after his discharge from the United States Army. Tom and Linda were married on June 14, 1974 and had recently just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
They went on to raise three children together with Linda always being a loving and doting wife, mother and housewife. There was never a day that the kids didn't come home from school to fresh made pies or cookies. Linda was a remarkable baker and cook and loved feeding people. She was present at every one of her children's activities whether it was sports, dance recitals or their academic achievements.
After her children were further along in their education, Linda worked at Carlisle's Department store in Boardman where her eye for fashion served her well in her new position of women's clothing and where she made life-long friends.
After Carlisle's closed, she took a position with the Mahoning County Bar Association in 1994 as the secretary and then was promoted to executive director until her retirement in July of 2017.
Linda loved spending time with her family, especially on vacation on the beaches of Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach, SC. Her ultimate dream vacation was realized when she went to Hawaii in 2010 with her husband, Tom. Linda cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, and she lit up when they walked into the room.
As beautiful as Linda was on the outside, she was even more beautiful on the inside. She had a heart of gold and everyone that knew her loved her.
Linda leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband Thomas of 50 years. Her three children, Jeffrey A. Pregi, Eric J. (Melissa) Pregi and Stephanie (Joel) Polonus, her nine grandchildren, Mathew Pregi (Natalie Bittel), Jacob Pregi, Sean (Kelsey) Pregi, Liana Pregi, Christopher Pregi, Brody Polonus, Allie Ramsey, Grayson Polonus and Hunter Ramsey and two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Riley.
She also leaves behind her sisters, Marilyn (William) Sarisky and Peggy (Robert) Butler, her brother, David (Joyce Ann) George, sisters-in-law, Rita George and Amy George and brother-in-law Dominic Pregi along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and personal friends who she considered family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William George and Richard George, her niece Michele George, her great niece Allison George, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dominic Pregi, Jr. and Helen Pregi and also by her sister-in-law Elaine Pregi-Soich and brother-in-law, Walter Soich.
Per Linda's wishes there will be no calling hours or services. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
