Lucia Vescera

Lucia Vescera, 89, of Howland, OH passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Lake Vista Nursing Home. She was born July 20, 1935, in Vieste, Italy, the daughter of the late Mauro DiVieste and the late Lucia DiMauro. Lucia was a homemaker and attended St. Mary's Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking for her family, and raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home always had an open door. Whether someone needed a listening ear or a warm meal, she was always there to provide. After Coming to the United Sates in 1972 with her 5 children and husband, she consumed herself with making sure that her family had a good life. Fortunately for her children, she was able to help raise her 15 grandchildren over the years. She built a strong foundation of faith and instilled that in her family. She is survived by her children, Celestino (Nancy) Vescera of Cortland, OH, Mauro (Terri) Vescera of Champion, OH, Micaela (Carl) Vennitti of Warren, OH, Matteo (Caterina) Vescera of Lakeland, FL, and Giuseppe "Joe" (Rebecca) Vescera of Warren, OH; siblings, Bartolomeo "Bart" (Maria) DiVieste of Warren, OH, Michelina Cantalamessa of Warren, OH, Celestino (Dorene) DiVieste of Warren, OH, Maria (Steve) Kolenich of Niles, OH, and Nunzio DiVieste of Warren, OH; sister-in-law, Theresa DiVieste; fifteen grandchildren; and thirty great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Lucia was preceded in death by her husband, Giorgio Vescera; brother, Giuseppe "Joe" DiVieste; and brother-in-law, Enzo Cantalamessa. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish at St. Mary's Church, where Fr. Christopher Cicero will officiate. Calling hours will be from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Thursday at the church. Entombment will be in Pineview Memorial Park, Warren, OH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Akron Children's Nephrology Department in honor of her great-grandson, David Detwiler. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
