Margaret Tranick Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Margaret Mary Tranick, 77, who left us peacefully on August 30, 2025 after bravely facing cancer with grace, strength and an unshakable spirit.
Born June 16, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio. Margaret was the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Barnett) Tuchek. She was a 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School.
Margaret lived her life with deep love and quiet strength. She was an extraordinary wife to Richard Tranick Sr., a devoted and loving mother to Sherilyn Conlin and Richard (Tracy) Tranick Jr. and a proud and treasured grandmother, lovingly referred to as "Nanny", to Jimmy and Brooke Conlin. She also leaves behind son-in-law James Conlin Sr. She will also be missed dearly by her devoted dog Casper who was her constant companion and always near her side. Her family was the heart of her world and she was the heart of theirs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elizabeth McFarren, and brothers Joseph Tuchek and James Tuchek and brother-in-law Donald McFarren.
In the 1980s, she owned and operated The Orange Poppy Flower Shop in Sharon, Pennsylvania alongside her sister, a venture that reflected her creativity and love for bringing beauty into the lives of others. In addition to the flower shop, she also worked as a floral designer at Pat Catan's in Boardman, Ohio and Edward's Flowers in Youngstown, Ohio prior to her retirement.
One of the many ways Margaret showed her love was through her cooking. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, comfort, and laughter. She had a gift of bringing people around the table, where her meals became memories. Her legendary wedding soup, widely known and attested by many as the best, was more than just a dish, it was a tradition. Her chicken and dumplings and pasta were a comfort no one could ever forget. Her food fed the soul as much as the body, and the care she put into every meal was a true expression of the love she carried in her heart.
One of her most beloved traditions was baking over twenty different types of cookies every Christmas. Her cookie trays were enjoyed by many, each one a carefully crafted assortment of festive favorites, family recipes, and new creations.
She leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who were blessed by her kindness, and a legacy rich in love, tradition, and resilience. The stories she told, the meals she shared, her witty sense of humor, and the love she gave freely will live on in each of us. Though our hearts are heavy, we are forever grateful for the time we had. Her spirit, her strength, and her love will remain with us always.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2025 with the Very Rev. Michael D Balash officiating with calling hours prior to the Mass from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.
Margaret will be laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
The family will be forever grateful for the exceptional care, compassion, and support shown by Dr. Timothy Barreiro, Dr. James Kim, and Dr. Carl Peterson and the incredible nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio and the dedicated team at Patriot Hospice, whose support brought comfort and dignity in her final days.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Patriot Hospice, 986 Tibbetts Wick Rd, Girard, OH 44420.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
