Paul Kandel Obituary

Paul R. Kandel, 86, of Champion, OH passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Gillette Nursing Home. He was born March 17, 1939, in Findlay, OH, the son of the late Walter and the late Mildred (Harigle) Kandel. Paul was employed as a millwright at Republic Steel /WCI for 44 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Champion Presbyterian Church, Champion Athletic Association, and Optimist Club of Champion. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, coaching, umpiring, bowling, and being outdoors. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Janice (Leeper) Kandel; daughters, Paula (Bill) Zigmont and Donna (Donald) Stevens; son, David (Anita) Kandel; grandchildren, Alexandria (Charles), Brandon, Brittany (Will), Zachary, McKenzie, and Ryan (Katie); great-grandchildren, Madalyn, Hayes, Lily, and Cindy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Spencer; and brother, Dale Kandel. Friends may call from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Champion Presbyterian Church. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Champion Presbyterian Church, where Pastor Alice Phillips will officiate. Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery, Champion, OH. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home.
