Paul Pendel Obituary
It is with profound sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved Father and Hero, Paul Pendel, 92, who has gone to be with his Heavenly family on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. Like a Slavic Warrior, he fought long and hard and victory was his at every battle that was placed before him. We are grateful for his strength, his courage, and his leadership, as our Father.
Paul was born April 5, 1932, in Farrell, PA, to Grgo and Marija (Nakich) Pendel.
He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Sharon, PA, and was proud of his Croatian descent. He was an avid bowler as a young man, a butcher, and eventually employed by the Farrell School District in 1957 as a painter, custodian and maintenance. In 2006 at the age of 72, Paul retired with 49 years of service to the District. In his retirement, he loved grocery shopping and finding all the sales as he had a knack for it. He was also known for his tremendous fried chicken, which he made for all occasions for all to enjoy, and boy we did. His family will miss his beautiful spirit, smile, and sense of humor.
He leaves behind three daughters, Rebecca and Ramona Pendel and Elizabeth Pendel-Testani.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose (Zappa) Pendel; son, Anthony "Tony" Pendel; son-in-law, Joseph "Jay" Testani; four brothers, Marco Pendel, Anthony Pendel, Joseph Pendel and John Pendel and his wife Mitzi Pendel; and four sisters, Vinka Kontic, Agnes Kvocak, Mandy Dolosky and Catherine Klasic.
Sadly, Dad had been hospitalized for the last few months of his life and we want to express our profound appreciation to the UPMC hospital of Farrell, and all of the doctors and care teams that provided him with care and comfort during these difficult times; as well as the Embassy Healthcare Rehabilitation of Hermitage, for all of their care and support and love; McGonigle Ambulance; Eddie Wareham, along with all of his family and friends throughout his life, whom he cherished. A very special thank you to his niece, MaryAnn Pendel-Kleinfelder for all of her support and love. You were his Angel.
We also want to thank the Carolyn E. Hartle Elder Law Practice for their care and dedication.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to St. Anthony Church, 804 Idaho St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Per his wishes, all services are private. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McGonigleFuneralHomeandCrematory.com
