Robert Patrick Fowler
Canfield, Oh. – Robert P. Fowler, 78, of Canfield, Ohio passed away peacefully June 9, 2025 at his home. He was a beloved father, husband, grandfather, son, brother, friend and artist.
Bob was born March 28,1947 in Youngstown to the late Helen Elizabeth (Kauffman) Fowler and Capt. Charles E. Fowler. He grew up in Youngstown, Austria, Italy and Japan. He graduated from Ursuline High School in 1965. He then spent 2 years serving as a Radioman on the USS Wasp while in the Navy. His ship was responsible for securing the capsules and astronauts from the Gemini missions.
Bob worked at the General Motors Lordstown Plant from 1967-2005 where he was a proud Union brother in the paint shop. A lifelong golfer, Bob played in many leagues including the GM retirees league at Olde Dutch Mill. He was the administrator of the Sandwich Factory Jr. Golf League from 1987-1993 where he taught many children the game of golf. Bob also scored three hole-in-ones. In the 1970's, Bob was the frontman for a band and loved singing tunes from that era. His other interests included Corvettes, collecting artwork, landscaping Japanese-style gardens, creating tropical fish tanks, studying and sharing Civil War history. He was also a gifted sculptor and painter. Most importantly, Bob was kind and a true lover of all animals.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Candy (Marshall) Fowler; his children, Todd (Mary) and Daniel (Melinda); his cherished grandchildren, Chloe, Owen, Zachary and Henry; and his siblings, Ed (Mary Grace), Mary Frances (Carmen Conglose), Thomas (Linda) and sister-in-law, Clara Marshall. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Betty; his in-laws, William and Mildred Marshall; his brother-in-law, William Marshall II; and a nephew, James Conglose.
A funeral service will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 14 at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home, 3100 Canfield Rd., Canfield.
