Robert J. Munroe

Robert J. Munroe, 71, of Southington, passed away peacefully with his loved ones surrounding him on Monday, September 22, 2025. Bob was born April 6, 1954, in Warren, OH, the son of Robert and Shirley (Patchin) Munroe. He was a 1973 graduate of Maplewood High School. He married the love of his life, Lauri (Hill) Munroe on November 13, 1976 and they shared 48 years together. Bob went into the workforce right out of high school. He worked 17 years at Republic Steel/WCI. Afterwards, he was self-employed for several years doing construction. In 1995, he started at Trumbull Correctional Institution as maintenance supervisor for 8 years. In 2003, he became the Director of Property and Services for Kent City Schools. He retired in July of 2024. Bob was a man of many talents. He enjoyed painting, creating, and anything to do with music. Being in a band brought him the greatest joy in life. He had music in his soul. Family and friends loved to hear him sing and play his guitar. Bob was adored by his friends and family. He loved having a family compound when his daughter and her family and his oldest son moved back to the property. He also loved visiting his younger son and girlfriend in Outerbanks, NC. Often jokingly referring to their home as his vacation home. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Munroe, Jr.; his in-laws, Warren and Betty Hill; and his nephew, Chad Brunstetter. Bob leaves behind, to hold onto the cherished memories of him, his wife Lauri; his children, Brandon Munroe, of Southington, Megan (Jeremy) Luzadder of Southington, and Tyler Munroe (Peyton Brown) of Kill Devil Hills, NC; his beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Zoie, Brielle, Alexa, and Grayson; his mother, Shirley Munroe of Greene; his brothers, Terry (Wendy) Munroe of Champion and Jamie (Carrie) Munroe of Southington; his sisters, Debbie (Jim) Bacorn of Bristolville and Lori (Tom) Ellsworth of Greene and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no services at this time but a celebration of life is planned for a later date.
