Sheila Ansel Obituary

CORTLAND – Sheila Rae Ansel, age 83, entered into eternal rest Friday, November 8, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Warren. She was born December 17, 1940 in Point Marion, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Albert and Maxine (Murray) DeSicy. Sheila was a graduate of Albert Gallatin High School where she was a majorette with the marching band. She fell in love with George Ansel, who walked the 57 miles from Latrobe to Point Marion to see her regularly. The two were married on June 20, 1959 and spent 63 years together before his passing on July 10, 2022. She was a member of Bazetta Christian Church and loved spending time with family. Precious memories of Sheila live on with her loving daughter Shannon Mercier with whom she shared her home; five grandchildren: Steven (Karlie) Mercier, Christopher Mercier, Richard (Erin) Ansel, Elizabeth Ansel, and Jacob Ansel; nine great-grandchildren: Chloe, Avery and Beau Mercier, Lily and Richie Ansel, Zackery and Zoey Meszaros, Eric and Cameron Ansel; three great-great-grandchildren: Brie, Rie and Deacon. In addition to her husband and parents, Sheila was preceded in death by her son, Richard Ansel; granddaughter Autumn Ansel; and two sisters Alberta Balsega and Marlene Frankenberry. In accordance with Sheila's wishes, services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, 330- 394-6200.
