Susan J. Horsman

Susan J. Horsman, 67, of Hermitage passed away peacefully early Friday morning, January 6, 2023, at her residence. Suzie was born January 10, 1955, in Sharon, a daughter of Raymond N. and Ruth Jean (Richards) Horsman. During her younger years, she enrolled in special education courses at Hickory Elementary School, and later was a daily participant in the ARC of Mercer Co. workshops for many years. She loved attending the annual ARC summer picnic at the Mahaney Camp Grounds. Suzie was of the Protestant Faith. She loved animals, especially horses and sheepdogs, which she absolutely adored. A joy to be around, Suzie had a wonderful sense of humor and quickly made friends with those she met, often meeting them with a welcoming hug. She also enjoyed writing, taking long drives through the countryside with her mother, and loved to spend time with her family. Suzie is survived by her mother, Ruth J. Horsman; and a sister, Sandy Knight (Leonard), all of Hermitage; an aunt, Paula Priester, West Middlesex; two nephews, Cory Tonks (Cathy), Chardon, OH, and Jonathon Horsman (Adrianna), Brookfield; four great-nieces, Emily, Elizabeth, Julianna and Lilly; a great-nephew, Ethan; and three cousins, Michael Herwig, and Bill and Terry Richards. Suzie was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Horsman; a brother, Scott Alan Horsman. Memorial contributions may be directed to the ARC of Mercer Co., 850 N. Hermitage Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (1-9-23) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 1090 E. State St., Sharon. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday (1-10-23) in the funeral home, with Chaplin David Miles of ProMedica Hospice, officiating. Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
