Tracy Currie Obituary
Heaven received an angel when Tracy Currie, age 50, died from an extended illness on July 17, 2024, in Hospice of the Valley in Poland, Ohio.
Residing in North Lima, Ohio, but born and raised in New Castle, PA, Tracy, in her youth, loved playing softball where she was named the MVP of her team. In addition, she was an accomplished pianist and won several awards at talent contests. Because she was a lover of animals, she always had a pet dog or cat, and she especially enjoyed going to the beach and swimming in the ocean.
Tracy graduated from Kennedy Christian High School in 1992. She then pursued a career as a registered nurse while attending Saint Francis School of Nursing. Graduating from nurse's training in 1994, Tracy worked as an R.N. at Saint Francis Hospital for two years, as well as Jameson Hospital, before she took a job as a labor and delivery nurse at Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, PA. Working a total of 30 years as a registered nurse, she loved all of her jobs and all of her fellow co-workers.
An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, Tracy was proud to have been chosen to help deliver several babies of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition, she saved the lives of two women who collapsed in public places. After working at Butler Memorial Hospital, she decided to change careers and become a flight attendant. However, her new career was short-lived when she became ill and could not work.
She is survived by her mother, Francine (John) Cubellis, and also her father, Ron (Sandra) Plano. Additionally, she has three children: Kayla Pocza of Pittsburgh, Jordan Pocza of South Carolina, and also Kassidy Pocza (Domenik Ritter) of South Carolina. Tracy adored her only grandchild, Aubrey Ritter, and especially loved spending time with her. She had a special bond with her closest friend, Jodi King, as well as her dear companion, Brett Billec.
Tracy had a great and wonderful relationship with all her family and will be sadly missed yet so warmly loved and remembered. She was truly an inspiration to all who were privileged to have known her.
Keeping with her wishes, there will be no calling hours.
A private service will be held at a later date by family and friends. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, 979 Tibbetts Wick Road, Suite A, Girard, Ohio 44420.
