Nicholas Gordon Obituary

Nicholas McPhail Gordon
June 29, 1987 - January 2, 2008

Nicholas Gordon, age 20, of Ashland, Oregon passed away on January 2, 2008 in a car accident. He was on his way home from a snowboarding trip with his brother and best friend, Max Gordon.

Nick was born in Sacramento, California to Stan and Michelle Gordon. He lived there until the family moved to the beautiful Scott Valley in August of 1991. He attended Etna Elementary and Etna High School through his junior year.

Nick moved to Ashland, Oregon with his family, in June of 2004. He graduated from Ashland High School in June of 2005. He attended Rogue Community College and earned a basic EMT certificate. Nick was accepted to the fire academy at Chemeketa Community College in the spring of 2006 and volunteered at Sublimity Fire Station. He returned to Ashland and his previous employer, Shop-N-Kart, and became the frozen foods manager. He loved and respected his coworkers at Shop-N-Kart and they enjoyed his humor and his work ethics.

Nick loved sports! All through his school years he enjoyed playing soccer, football, basketball and baseball with much success. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends although he wasn't as successful with these endeavors. Snowboarding was one of his passions and he enjoyed trying new tricks and making jumps with friends. Mentored by Stephen Bacon of Bellwood Violin, for his senior project at Ashland High School, he made a beautiful acoustic guitar that he enjoyed playing for hours.

Nick enjoyed life, friends, and family. He worked hard and played hard. Nick had a big heart and wore it on his sleeve for everyone to see. They saw a young man who was caring and loving and a good friend. A young man who liked a good story and could tell a few also. He was generous when a friend needed a favor or a shoulder to cry on. He treasured his family and his friends, as they treasured him. We will miss him greatly, his life cut too short. But we will remember him in our hearts forever.

As Nick would say "no worries," "peace, out."

Nicholas is survived by his parents, Stan and Michelle Gordon; his brother, Max Gordon; his "Grammy", Dorothy McPhail; grandparents, Earl and Joan Caya, "Nana" Aurelia Brown, and husband Jim Brown, of Branson, Mo.; Uncle, Norman McPhail, of Hillsboro, Ore.; Aunt Patty McPhail, of Medford, Ore., Uncle Ron and Helena of Arvada, Colo., Uncle Mark and Melissa Caya; Aunt Tammy and Tony Lazio, Aunt Sheila Nothdorft, of Denver, Colo., and Aunt Cheri and Steve Sager, of Florida; cousins, Taylor, Marissa, Britta, Anthony, Christin, Chris, Cory and Shaunna. Other close friends and family include his girlfriend, Amber Ingle, and her one year old daughter, Myla, whom he loved very much and The Jarvis Family.

He was predeceased by his friend and "Grampy" Norman McPhail, who passed away on December 26, 2007.

A celebration of his life will be held at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church on Monday, February 18, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. Please go to www.gordonfamilyfund.com for directions and further information.
