Phyllis Pyle Obituary

Phyllis (Stanton) Pyle

Phyllis (Stanton) Pyle died March 31, 2006 at the Health Center in the Rogue Valley Manor in Medford, Ore.

Phyllis was born to Joe and Clara Stanton in Watertown, S.D. and lived there until her second year of grade school. After that, the family began a series of moves. She graduated from high school in Sioux Falls, S.D., and later received her B.S. degree in commerce from the Univ. of Iowa.

She was married to Arthur Pyle in Billings, Mont. Arthur operated a wholesale electrical supply business. Phyllis worked as a secretary and bookkeeper. For several years before their retirement, she assisted her husband in his business. After retiring, the couple moved to Indio, Calif., where they lived in a mobile home for a number of years.

Phyllis and Art enjoyed camping, fishing, and both loved to dance. Knitting and needlepoint were Phyllis's special interests. In 1984 they moved to Whidbey Island, Wash. They had been married 39 years when Art died in August, 1988, after a long illness.

Phyllis enjoyed her many friends throughout the US - always entertaining them, cooking, playing bridge, and other card and table games. She loved weaving and many hand crafts. Phyllis took great pride in the large doll house she designed and stitched, which she totally furnished, complete with a family dressed in handmade wardrobes. She was so very pleased when it was accepted for permanent display in the new Medford library children's department for all to enjoy. It was definitely a tribute to her skills and abilities.

Phyllis was a breast cancer survivor, but also suffered from pulmonary fibrosis, a lung disease. She is survived by cousins, a step-granddaughter and many friends.
