Alfred Licata Obituary

CAMBRIDGE -- Alfred P. Licata Sr., 63, of Cambridge passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 21, 2011, at his home in Cambridge.

He was born in Quincy, Mass., the son of Peter and Mary (Genuardi) Licata.

He owned and operated a Rainbow Distributorship in Braintree, Mass. He grew the business to 33 different locations during the '70s. In late '70s early '80s, he helped start South Shore Chapter of Full Gospel Businessmen's Association. He then started A.M.S. (Automotive Maintenance Services), which he owned and operated for 12 years, covering from Massachusetts to Maryland. He moved to Maine in 1987 and started A.L. Distributors Inc. in 1994, which he owned and operated for 15 years.

He loved music, singing, worshipping, reading, studying and fishing. He was a district commander for Royal Rangers Christian boys group in the '80s. His passion was teaching other people in business and ministry. He studied and prepared for ministry for 30-plus years, his Saving Grace Ministries and His Watering Hole. For the last 42 years, Alfred was caring and loving for many homeless couples, runaway teens, families, pastors and wives, giving them a place to live and stay until God moved them on.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Arlene "Sissie" (Sacchetti) of Cambridge; his four sons, Alfred Licata Jr. and his companion, Joanne, of Massachusetts, Anthony Licata and his wife, Heather Gould, of Skowhegan, Angelo Licata and his wife, Annie, of Detroit, and Adam Licata of Cambridge; two brothers, William Licata and his companion, Nancy, of New Hampshire, and Angelo Licata and his fiancŽe, Cheryl, of Massachusets; six grandchildren, Alexis, Bailey, Jonas, Jenaya, Terese and Gabrielle; and his father and mother-in-law, Gino and Ethel Sacchetti, of Massachusetts; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Sacchetti and wife Gwen of California, and Michael Sacchetti and wife Mary of Massachusetts; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, July 30, 2011, at T&B Celebration Center, 414 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, with Pastor John Johnston officiating.

Arrangements are under the care of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan.

So sorry for your loss. I know that the 23rd Psalm is always quoted at funerals. But I have been shown a new way to look at that. We that are left behind are the ones that are walking through the shadow. we are not in it to stay but will go through it with God by our side. Sometimes he will even carry us. We were so very sorry to hear of the passing of Al. He was a wonderful man. My husband and I both worked with Al about 5 years ago and appreciated all of the faith he shared, guidance and love he showed us. He will be missed greatly.
