1956 - 2015
PORTLAND – Christopher E. "Chris" Mason, 58, of Farmington, died Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at Maine Medical Center, with family by his side.
He was born Dec. 30, 1956, in Springfield, Mass., a son of Fred and Violet (Swanson) Mason. He was a 1974 graduate of Erskine Academy and earned a degree in History from UMF. For many years, he was employed by Service Master. He later worked in the maintenance dept. of RSU #9 and was a history teacher at the Western Maine Christian Academy. He will be remembered for his sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Alexandra K. "Alix" Mason and her fiancé Sean Penney of Augusta; his son, Erik Mason of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Violet Mason of Farmington; two sisters: Beth Carlson of Livingston, Texas and Leslie Swan of Farmington, two brothers: Jonathan Mason and his wife, Sue of Apple Valley, Minn. and Joshua Mason and his wife, JoAnna of Gardiner; nieces and nephews: Nick, Derek, Fred, Hannah, Gunthar, Calvin and Lorelei. He was predeceased by his dad, Fred Mason.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday morning, Aug. 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. from the Bean's Corner Baptist Church, with Rev. Ira Hall officiating. Following services, all are welcome to attend a family reception hosted by the church hospitality committee in the fellowship hall. Out of respect for his "membership" in Red Sox Nation, please consider wearing team colors or Red Sox memorabilia.
