Denise worked and co-owned "Chairman of the Board" DJ services for several years and worked for Sheepscot Valley Health Center, and volunteered at MaineGeneral for many years. Denise was an avid artist who enjoyed reading, writing, listening to music, drawing and painting pictures. She was a very religious person who never had a bad word to say about anyone or anything. One of Denise's passions was sending birthday and greeting cards to all of her friends and family. Those cards were not simply signed with her name, but engulfed with words of love and compassion. She loved to be surrounded by beautiful flowers, so much so that her husband Shannon, would bring her new flowers regularly, making her pretty face glow and her warm smile radiate. Denise always said, "The safest place in the world was on Shannon's chest."
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Shannon Estes, of Waterville; daughters, Nickol and husband Carl Beckemeier of Missouri, and Lyndsey Cook of Augusta; her cats Pasqual, Gizmo and Maple; her dogs, Schultz and Biggie. She also leaves sisters Kellie Sutter and significant other, Frank Arbour, of Chelsea, and Deborah and Gerry Foster of Texas; and brother Bertram Sutter III of Texas; mother-in-law Jeannine Estes, brothers-in-law Chris Estes and wife Tina, Shawn Estes and Michael Estes; sisters-in-law Becky Bragg and Lisa Estes; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Denise was predeceased by her parents, Bertram Jr. and Sherrill Sutter.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at Veilleux Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m., with a memorial service to be held at 3 p.m. Internment to be held in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery.
Condolences may be expressed at www.veilleuxfuneralhome.com and memorial donations will be accepted for the Humane Society Waterville Area, 100 Webb Road, Waterville, ME 04901.

Here we are, nine days from Christmas. How bittersweet it is. It's most definitely going to be tough this year, but I intend to keep a smile for you. I've realized that you loved Christmas and although its a sad anniversary, I also intend to celebrate it for you. I would normally have already gotten you your chocolate covered cherries and would enjoy them for you if I liked them as much as you did :') I'm going to be flying to Missouri this month to be with Nikki, I can't wait :) we miss and love you so much. Big hugs, forever.

Another bad day, mum. The norm would be to call you and listen to you tell me that things will be okay and that you'll get me after school and we'll spend the afternoon. I guess I could pretend.
I love you so much and I could never say enough how much I miss you.
Big hugs forever, XOXO <3

You will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. You were such a fun roommate to have in our much younger years. We had a lot of fun when Nikol was a toddler. You were such an amazing mother and friend. May you find eternal peace on your new journey. I'm sure you look beautiful with that halo on.
Love and miss you,

Denise, God needed another angel. You were a beautiful person that meant the world to a lot of people. When you were at Shepscot you were more than an advocate for the patients you were a friend. You made people smile even in the darkest times. Thank you for being such a wonderful and caring person.
