Donna Lajoie Obituary
1944 - 2015
OAKLAND - Donna J. Lajoie, age 71, died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Alfond Center for Care in Augusta. She was born in Waterville on May 16, 1944 a daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Winslow) Atkinson.
Mrs. Lajoie was a graduate of Winslow High School. She had been employed by Maine Veterans Home for over 15 years. She had previously worked at the Augusta Mental Health Institute and the Alzheimer's Center in Gardiner.
Mrs. Lajoie was predeceased by a son, Christopher Lajoie. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Daniel Lajoie, Sr. of Oakland; a son, Daniels Lajoie, Jr. of Oakland; her sister, Becky Atkinson of Augusta; two grandchildren, Ashley and Darien Lajoie; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 1 p.m. in the chapel at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Rd., Augusta. Arrangements are under the direction of Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, Maine.

I met Donna in the 80's while working. We became friends due to in part a sick sence of humour.After I moved to Ct. she invited me to her home and I became part of her family due to many visits and her wonderful family. We had many fun times and many long distance gossip sessions. I don't know what I will do without her in my life. I love you Donna & will mourn forever until we meet again. In my mine, I see you in the field with Sam.

Throughout my entire childhood, Mrs. Lajoie was, for all intended purposes my surrogate mother. She was the kindest person I have ever known, and she really did have a heart of gold. The fondest memories I have of my youth were spent with her family. She will forever hold a special place in my heart, right next to her son, my brother Chris. The only comfort I take now is knowing that she will finally be reunited with him. To Mr. Lajoie and Danny, I am so deeply saddened for your loss. She touched so many lives through her help and constant generosity. She will be deeply missed by all that were fortunate enough to have known her.
