Doris Louise Grindle Bragg
1929 - 2018
AUGUSTA - Doris Louise Grindle Bragg died May 26, 2018, in Augusta. She was born May 7, 1929, to Leone Dunham Grindle and Alton P. Grindle in Holbrook, Mass.
She attended the Sumner High School in Holbrook and later moved to Monmouth, where she attended Monmouth Academy.
Doris married Douglas Edson Bragg in Monmouth. Later, Doris and Doug moved to Massachusetts and raised their four sons, Douglas Jr., Robert, Kenneth and Gary.
When they retired they sold their house in Abington, Mass. and moved to their summer home on Echo Lake in Mt Vernon.
Ma loved reading, swimming, gardening, tea parties and luncheons, yard sailing, her little dogs, Fritz and Sadie, and every squirrel, chipmunk and furry creature that showed up on her deck. She also loved her good friend and helper Gwen Ward, who managed to keep those critters out of the house. She loved having family around the table at Sunday dinner sharing and caring. Her happiest moments were when the house was full with the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. And she loved each and everyone who called her "Ma," "Grammy Doris", "Mrs. B", "Dowis" and "Aunt Doris". She had many happy outings with her friends at the Golden Years Club in Monmouth. We are all going to miss her.
A celebration of remembrance will be held at the East Monmouth Methodist Church June 16, at 1:00 p.m., followed by an interment at the East Monmouth Cemetery. After the interment we will share some of Ma's favorite goodies, coffee, lemonade, stories, photos and memories back at the church vestry.
