He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia Lynch, formerly of Quinebaug, Conn.
Jerry will be remembered for his kindness to all around, his witty conversations and his one-liners. He enjoyed going to The Forks with Rhonda and family and friends, and had created many memories there. Jerry could always be found fiddling on the Fords and feeding the fire.
He was born Feb. 3, 1958, in Waltham, Mass., to Patricia Lynch and Gerald Galligan Sr. He attended school in Lexington and Hudson, Mass., where he had learned the trade of auto mechanic since the age of 15.
That's all he wanted to do.
He started working as a diesel mechanic at AMI leasing in Worcester, Mass. He later moved to Maine where he worked many years at Augusta Ford, and later at DNK, Advantage Automotive and the last month at Jax Auto Sales in Chelsea.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Rhonda Carr of Pittston; his and Rhonda's four-legged children, Jake and Mr. Wilson; his loving daughter, Shayna Galligan of Palmer, Mass.; father Gerald Galligan Sr. of Richmond; special stepfather Richard Lynch of Quinebaug; sisters, Peggy and Jennifer Galligan of Massachusetts; sister Kellie and her husband, Bob; nephews Shae and Sam Miles of Marlboro, Mass.; his future father-in-law, Tom and Dinah Carr; mother-in-law Betty Carr and the rest of the extended Carr family; as well as his closest friend, Shawn Letourneau, and his goddaughter, Elissa Letourneau; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Visiting hours will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made for burial expenses.
