ROME - Irene C. Jaques, age 86, died on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Waterville, following a long illness. She was born in Newton, Mass., on Aug. 15, 1928, the daughter of the late Ira M. and Viola C. (Smith) Conant.
Mrs. Jaques was a homemaker for most of her life, and was a wonderful baker, well known for her cookies, cakes and pies. She also made time to work for many years in Clinton County Senior Services, assisting and providing elderly care in Clinton County, N.Y.
She dedicated her life to the Gospel of Jesus and was a member of the Church of Christ in Augusta.
Mrs. Jaques was predeceased by her brother, William Conant. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, 1st Sgt Charles E. Jaques, Sr., USMC (Ret.) of Rome; five sons: Charles E. Jaques, Jr. and his wife Holly of St. Augustine, Fla., William C. Jaques of Exeter, N.H., Peter B. Jaques and his wife Kathy of Hanover, Mass., Maj. Richard B. Jaques, USMC (Ret.) and his wife Beth of Stafford, Va., and Alan R. Jaques and his wife Shari of Windsor; a sister, Ruth Pansa of Utica, N.Y.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews; and cousins.
At her request, there will be no public visiting hours. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, at 3 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home, Windsor Chapel, 983 Ridge Rd. (Rt. 32), Windsor. Burial will be held at a later date in the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. Condolences, photos and memories may be shared at www.plummerfh.com
