Jean Gordon Obituary

Jean M. Gordon
1931 - 2016
SUFFIELD, Conn. - Jean M. Gordon of Suffield, Conn., formerly of Enfield, Conn., passed away on May 19, 2016, a few days after celebrating his 85th birthday, with his beloved wife of 52 years, Angela, and family by his side. He was born on May 1, 1931, to Arline (Dickey) and Arthur H. Gordon, of Augusta.
Jean attended Cony High School, Augusta, and Winthrop High School, Winthrop. He joined the Air Force in 1949, proudly serving in Kansas, Saudi Arabia, and Bermuda, where he flew with the "Hurricane Hunters." He also served with the Maine National Guard and Connecticut National Guard for many years. Jean was employed by Pratt & Whitney/United Aircraft Research Labs for 30-plus years. He enjoyed reading, woodworking projects, model airplanes, and was an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan.
Along with his wife, Angela, he will be truly missed by his son, Jeff Gordon (Cathy), of New York; his daughter, Tina Burnham (Mike), of Maine; grandchildren, Justin, Bob (Trista), and Tim, Melissa Barter (Steve), Joey and Chip; and six great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by his sisters, Elli Gordon, of Florida, and Lynda Stockford (Parker), of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Owen; and brother-in-law, Francis, of Ireland.
The family would like to thank the friends and caregivers at their Suffield residence, and the caregivers at Parkway Pavilion for their care and compassion.
A private family Celebration of Life will take place there on June 4, followed later in summer by burial with full military honors. For online expressions of sympathy, visit us at: www.leetestevens.com

My visits and family gatherings with Uncle Jean and Aunt Angela over the course of my lifetime and especially in the recent years with my daughters have been the most special and memorable. They rarely missed an occasion to celebrate birthdays and special events with us. A gentle man with a gentle soul, he will be surely missed by all. My Uncle Jean, may you rest in peace gentle man.

Uncle Jean and Aunt Angela always brought positive energy to our Gordon family reunions. Devoted to family, they could be counted on to make the trip north to celebrate being a Gordon. Uncle Jean was a good guy and wonderful role model to the entire family. May he rest in the peace of Christ knowing he made the world a better place.

Orland and I send our condolences to Jean's family. Although Jean left home and joined the Air Force when we both were only two years old (too young to remember him personally), we heard about him throughout our lives. Orland is Jean's first cousin through Hilda (Dickey) Bean and I am a first cousin once removed through Fannie (Dickey) Brooks.
