Joseph Ramsdell Obituary

He was born in Clinton on Sept. 6, 1940, the son of Claude and Mary Ramsdell. He attended schools in Clinton and was a lifelong resident of Canaan. He was a carpenter most of his life.

Joe loved spending time outside, making crafts for others, hunting, four-wheeling, playing horseshoes, bowling, and watching the deer. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very giving of his time and was always thinking of others before himself.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy; two sons, Joseph Ramsdell Jr. and his wife, Kelly, of Canaan and Bernard Ramsdell and his wife, Laura, of Canaan; four grandchildren, Joseph Ramsdell III and his wife, Ashley, of Skowhegan, Matthew Ramsdell of Portland, Casey Marquis of Pittsfield, and Blake Bisson of Belgrade; four great-grandchildren, Cody, Connor, Joey and Harper; two sisters, Myrtle Ramsdell and Phyllis Anderson and her husband, Ivan, all of Canaan; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Brooks officiating.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Helen Bowley.

Friends who wish may contribute to the Canaan Fireman's Auxiliary, P.O. Box 488, Canaan, ME 04924, in honor of Joe's memory.
