Kelvin Higgins Obituary
1937 - 2017
OAKLAND - Kelvin A. Higgins Sr., 80, passed away on Dec. 24, 2017, after a courageous fight with dementia with his loving family by his side. He was born in Albion on Oct. 13, 1937, the youngest of eight children of Albert and Lucy (Robinson) Higgins.
Kelvin graduated from Besse High School in Albion in 1955. He served in the US Army from 1960 to 1963, spending some time in Korea. He went on to later serve in the Nation Guard. After the military Kelvin worked for the Motor Supply Company until his retirement in 2006.
On Dec. 23, 1960, he married Joy M. Waddell. They spent many years together and their greatest happiness was family and taking Sunday rides to the coast.
Kelvin was predeceased by his parents; brothers Ralph, Ervin, and Guy, sisters Helen, Cora, Ruby, and Beverly; and an infant son Elden Myles.
He is survived by his wife Joy; son Kelvin A. Higgins Jr. and his wife Ann; grandson Quinn Higgins; sister-in-law Joan Porter; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m., at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St., Fairfield. A committal service will be held in the spring. An online guestbook may be signed at www.lawrybrothers.com

We are saddened by your loss. Aunt Joy, our most recent fond memory of Uncle Kelvin is when you and Uncle came up to Aunt Ruby's house (RIP Aunt Ruby) about three years ago when we arrived there for a few days stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the "all too short" visit with you folks. Uncle Kelvin was a wonderful man; RIP Uncle Kelvin.

Joy I am sorry to hear of Kel's passing. I learned alot from him over the years we worked together at Motor Supply. I remember the weekly friday lunches we had as well. He will be missed greatly. I have alot of good memories of him .

I'm so sorry to hear of Kel's passing. He was always a very kind and gentle soul. I visited with him whenever I went to Me Vets for assessments. His presence will be greatly missed.
