Leslie Witham Obituary
ROME - Leslie L. Witham, 79, died on August 8, 2016, surrounded by his family at his Rome home. He was born in Rome, on Jan. 21, 1937, the son of Archie and Etta (House) Witham.
Leslie attended Williams High School in Oakland and at a very young age worked in the woods with his father. He was employed many years by Thompson Volkswagen in Waterville.
Leslie loved hunting and fishing. He was Road Commissioner for the Town of Rome for several years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Witham; a son Kevin Witham; four brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are children, Leslie Witham Jr of Canaan, William Witham of Sidney, Todd Witham of Rome, Shawn Witham of Belgrade, Troy Witham of Oakland, Pamela Cummings of Sidney, Julie Smith of Rome and Lesley Real of Rome; 24 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters, Rose Wood of Oakland, Beverly Menieur of Winslow, Avis Willey of Rome, and Maxine Peters of Solon; many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 19, at the Rome Village Cemetery, Mercer Road in Rome. A celebration of life will follow the service at the home of Les and Joyce Witham.
Arrangements are by Lawry Brothers-Wheeler, 26 Church St., Oakland. An online guestbook may be signed and memories shared at: www.lawrybrothers.com
