She was born in Skowhegan, Aug. 12, 1922, to the late Lovina and Chester Perkins. Muriel attended Skowhegan schools and married Herbert E. Mullen in 1941. She later moved to Oakland, where she raised her family spending most Sundays regularly attending church with them and hosting many family gatherings while living out her remaining years before moving to Boothbay in 2008.
Muriel is predeceased by her parents; her husband; brothers Chester "Paddy" Perkins, James Perkins, Millard "Buddy" Perkins, Arthur Perkins and Maynard Perkins; and sisters Eron Perkins and Lorrain Mullen. She is survived by her three sisters, Ernestine Porter of Madison, Katherine Perkins of Skowhegan, and Nancy Lemieux of Skowhegan; her sons, Herbert Mullen and wife, Sandra, of Boothbay, and Edwin Mullen and wife, Angela, of Oakland; daughter Lisa Levine and her significant other, Matt Wilcox, of Waterville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, countless loved ones, and her beloved dog, Kiki.
Muriel touched the lives of many with her generous heart and open home, always welcoming those in need of shelter and by spreading the spirit of joy and love through her poetry, singing, cooking and many stories of her happy and memorable childhood. She had a great love of people and for all God's little animals and oftentimes was a prayer warrior for both.
The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that was given to Muriel in her time of need at St. Andrews Hospital & Healthcare Center in Boothbay Harbor and Cedar Ridge Nursing Facility in Skowhegan.
Friends and family are invited to visit 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. Services celebrating Muriel's life will be 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Lighthouse Ministry Center, High Street, Oakland. Burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery in Oakland.

Even though we lost touch when I moved you were always in my heart and I thought of you often. Our times spent together were very special and you are a special lady. I can still see your smile as you shared your life stories with me. You have touched the hearts of many people and your gift of giving was noticed with all those around you.

What a hot ticket she is! Her love for Jesus was contageous. And what light she had in her eyes when she smiled. I think she is dancing, laughing and jumping up and down right now, with many who loved her, and especially with her Lord.
