Paul R. Lam

Paul went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 3, 2008, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Tecumseh, Okla. on June 21, 1932, and graduated from Tecumseh High School. He and his wife, Carolyn Sue Lam, were married for 55 years, and Paul was a loving husband, father and PaPaw. Not only was he a wonderful father, but a successful businessman who, along with his family, established Lam’s T.V., where he worked until his retirement in 1988. His huge smile greeted everyone he met. Paul was a Master Mason for 50 years, having dual memberships at Composite Lodge #107, Shawnee, Oklahoma and St. John’s Lodge #53, Tyler. Paul was devoted to God, to his family and to his friends. He had such a passion for life and enjoyed every aspect of it. Two of his favorite things he enjoyed were gardening and giving away his vegetables, and vacationing was always a fun time for him. He was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he participated in John Child’s Sunday School Class. He was a volunteer worker at Green Acres Good Samaritan Outreach Center.Paul is preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Kay Lam; mother, Eula Judy Dubler, and stepfather, Homer Dubler; brothers, Billy Lam, Edward Lam, Jr. and Walter C. Lam. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, John Lam and daughter-in-law, Martha; daughter, Paula Champion and son-in-law, Gene; four grandchildren, Stephanie Lam Wood, Jennifer Eckles, Justin Champion and Jesica Champion; four great-grandchildren, Emilee and Elisabeth Eckles, Ryan McCrary and Kennedy C. Wood; sister, Christine Lewis of Greely, Colo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eugene and Vonda Straughan of Baily, Colo.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Victor and Kathryn Bertolasio of St. Petersburg, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Dr. Johnny Beard officiating. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, Tyler, Texas. Pallbearers will be Bill Roberts, Bob Beckley, Horace Taft, H.G. White, Bob Chamness, Ronnie Smiley, Jim Isham and Darrell Wood.Memorials in honor of Paul R.
